Question: How do you move 46 million people to individual electoral registration from a household-based system?
Answer: With a new government website that will enable people to manage their own applications, routing them to their local authority, who will put them on the electoral roll.
The system will migrate 46 million people from the old electoral roll to the new one in the first month, then around 5 million more people every year.
It’s thought that asking people to provide their National Insurance number and date of birth will help reduce fraud.
