Voters in American Samoa will be electing their legislative representatives in November of  this year.  The small US territory in the Pacific Ocean has a bicameral legislature, with 18 seats in the Senate and another 18 in the House of Representatives.

Elections in American Samoa are under the supervision of The Election Office, a  bipartisan agency responsible for ensuring uniformity, transparency, fairness, accuracy, and security in all elections in the territory of American Samoa.

The Commission has its hand full with several objectives.  It is seeking to maintain  an up to date database for all registered voters and is aiming  for  continued voter registration up to 30 days prior election day. It is also busy purging voter files as required by election laws; and training/retraining poll-workers and election officials.  With the elections a few months away, the Commission has also ramped up its Voter Education efforts on TV and Radio.

The head of government in American Samoa is the Governor, who is elected by a popular vote and serves a four year term.  While the office of the Governor discharges some executive functions, the administration of civil government is under the direct purview of the US Secretary of Interior, as provided for in Executive Order 10264.
