Israel eyes electronic voting

Israel eyes electronic voting
January 08 2015, 16:02

While no date has been set for elections yet, the Central Elections Commission of Israel has been preparing for weeks for the possibility of early elections. And one of the ideas it has been considering is the implementation of electronic voting, at least to some extent.

Authorities believe that electronic voting could help streamline things, said Attorney Orly Ades, head of the Commission. In spite the intention of automating the next elections, it’s unlikely that electronic voting will be ready in case early elections are called for. Currently, Israeli elections are conducted manually.

Among the tasks the elections commission has to work on is the creation of 18 regional election committees to handle voting issues.
